Need fine-ground cornmeal. Tried two Whole Foods. They had only coarse and medium. Tried a Giant and a Safeway. No luck. Gave up, came home, and Amazoned.
It is getting to the point where if I know I need to make something that calls for a specific ingredient that is not an every-day item, I don't even look for it. I plan ahead and get it from Amazon. Today was an exception - I had to do regularly weekly shopping at the first Whole Foods and the second was on my way home.
It cracks me up/annoys me that the cashiers at Whole Foods always ask "did you find everything you need today?" If I didn't think that they have been forced to say that, I would think it was their sick way of breaking up the tedium by provoking reactions from the customers. Because of course we didn't find what we need today. Because your overlords haven't got a clue how to keep the shelves stocked, even though half the aisles are always blocked by someone stocking shelves at the busiest time of day. And seriously, you've got umpteen kinds of boxed or bagged greens but no romaine? For the sixth week in a row? Why does this particular store have trouble stocking romaine?
I think I have a better chance of hitting the lottery than finding everything I need at a Whole Foods.
How many stores will you try before you give up, go home, and order online?
