How to store leftover canned salt-packed anchovies?

IndyGirl123 | Feb 18, 201707:56 AM     1

I purchased online an 800 gram(!) can of salt-packed anchovies stored in salt. How best to store them--it will take me a few years to use them all. I found an old discussion thread with this topic: https://www.chowhound.com/post/save-l...

The suggestion to transfer them into a container and top them with oil doesn't seem right for salt-packed anchovies. I'm unwilling to separate all the fillets and freeze them individually and I am unwilling to grind them into paste and freeze them.

Do I just transfer to a glass container and top with kosher salt? Can I freeze them this way? Or freeze them whole in salt in ziplocks?
