Ok, I know there have been numerous discussions (a few of which I have participated in) about how Stoney Point is overpriced, outdated and overall boring/bland/not worth it. Well, last night my jet-lagged husband and I wanted to eat out but go somewhere very close, so we went there since it is a nice, 2 minute car ride. The shocker? I kid you not when I say I had the best salmon of my life. Forget the "mustard sauce" that was poured over it- it tasted nothing like mustard nor was it anything special. The accompanying vegetables and potatoes were actually quite good, but the SALMON FILET. WOW. Cooked to absolute perfection, it literally tasted like sashimi-grade salmon....as if you took 25 slices of the best salmon at any top notch sushi place, made it into one large fillet and cooked it so that the outside was nice and crispy and the inside....ooooh the inside was like bursts of oil coming out of perfectly moist and tender salmon...it was seriously amazing. And my mind said "but I'm at Stoney Point!" and my mouth said "so what, this is the best salmon you've ever had." The service was fantastic, and they dole out mini french breads a la Grace and Patina. Hubby's pasta was nothing to write home about and he wouldn't stay out of my salmon anyway. I only hope it wasn't a one time deal.
