Looking for a place we hadn't visited before, we decided on this French restaurant, which is located on a small golf course on a side street that is not very much traveled, in the middle of nowhere as they say. Nice change from Sound Ave to be honest. I had heard only good things, and happily found that they were all true.
The service was attentive and friendly. Our waiter kept going above and beyond for us throughout the meal. The room was open with nice views of the greens, not stuffy in the least; more like a country club than a bistro. We were alone for the first hour, but then two large parties arrived, and while the atmosphere became quite festive, there was more than enough room and good accoustics that you were not overwhelmed in the least.
We were served an amuse bouche of smoked fish on cucumber, a great way to start. The bread basket was crusty, tasty, wonderful breads that we finished off, something we seldom do before a big meal. My husband chose the mussel starter and the veal main which were both the most tender I had ever tasted (not that he let me have more than a couple of bites!); they were part of a $29.99 prix fixe to boot. I had a duck pate with truffles and pistachio and a cornishon garnish, which came with microgreens and the ripest tomatoes I have ever tasted off season, followed by Duck a L'Orange, and although I am usually disappointed with duck at restaurants despite their being local Crescent, I finally found the one of my dreams. The wild rice side that came with the duck was the best rice I've ever tasted, and I am a major rice fan.
Desserts were a cold raspberry souffle and a vanilla almond cheesecake that were so creamy and decadent that words fail me, yet we managed to finish every bite of each. Couldn't stop ourselves!
They are open for lunch too, and have a separate bar and grill area if you want to get a little more casual. But our meal, with drinks and coffee, only came out to $130, just to round out the experience. Just thought I'd bring it up, because I've never seen this place mentioned here before.
