Apologies for the pun.
Had a great dinner with two friends from the centre of the universe last night at Stone Road Grille in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Chef Ryan Crawford continues to impress and delight with his whimsical and delicious food. From the house charcuterie plate (all house-made, house-smoked, house-cured, house-preserved), to the pan-roasted Alaskan black cod on Israeli couscous, to the green apple candy floss, everything was superb. All 40 seats were full all night, as usual, and it will be especially important to reserve early now that the Shaw season is getting off the ground.
The extensive Niagara-only wine list includes over 50 selections (including two personal favourites: Creekside Sauvignon Blanc and Coyote's Run Pinot Noir), and service was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.
Our two friends were out for their first "grown-up" dinner after the birth of their son Tom 9 months ago, so they would have been impressed with pretty much anyting: Instead they were blown away.
