this nice place is at 5th avenue and 3rd street.
we had a glass of riesling and cali zin to start. later we split a bottle of gigondas. to eat we had the crab-foie gras cakes and mushroom asparagus risotto for apps. the later was just wow. super rich and nice. stalks of asparagus, tasy mushrooms, but also more blended in the risotto. very rich. the former was nice too but just crab cake. maybe i misread something, i dk.
for the main we split the rib eye steak for two. super job. it was grilled rare with rosemary--perfectly and very nice. just right on the salt char. not the best cut of meat you've ever had, but more importantly it was flavorful and mostly buttery good. you get two sides for this (common) special and we got ginger/rabe and home fries. both were fine, if not the very best ever.
for dessert we got three cheeses, a roberchon, a pecorino and a soft chimay goat cheese. all were fresh and tasty. expresso was the last go round.
total was a reasonable $150 for two, w/o tip. go for this place --- i rec it, very sharp service too. it is a wonderful neighborhood style new american!
