I am shopping for a new STEEL SKILLET!
I have been using a 10" and a 12" Lodge cast iron skillet for a lot of things but, the tall sides and excessive weight are becoming a problem. I think my 14" Skillet killed my smoothtop electric cooktop (no great loss as I generally hated that cheap Frigidaire POS). The rough texture is irritating to me as well.
I am generally thinking DeBuyer Mineral B, Mafter or Mauviel. How are these different from each other? Is one brand a particularly better value than the others?
I am in Texas and expect to order online so, any specific references to better online options would be appreciated. Also, I'm not opposed to ordering in the EU or Asia even with the expected longer shipping times.
I plan on using this skillet a lot at home and some while traveling so, think campfires, over charcoal, or simple gas or electric burners. Initially, I'm thinking 10"/26cm but, will probably also get a smaller 6"~8" model too.
What would you get? Why?
