Steamers at Old Port Lobster Shack

I haven't been able to get back to OPLS since my first two visits, but a kind shy hound, knowing my interest in steamers, emailed me telling me they were available. She gave me permission to post her email about the trip.

Well, I took the opportunity of this last spare the air day to get myself down to OPLS for some steamers. It is a short walk from the Caltrain station.

I called beforehand and Russ said he only had 1-1 1/2 order left, which he would save for me. In fact when I walked in the door, the party in front of me was asking about them and he said there was only one order left that was reserved. I raised my hand. The denied party took delight in my luck.

And they were yummy! Russ said he was getting a fresh shipment in tomorrow, so steamers all week .

I liked Russ. So liked that I saw before my eyes his keeping the promise to reserve those steamers for me! A customer he'd never met.

I had a cup of seafood gazpacho [tasty $6.75], a glass of Devil Canyon amber [cashier offered generous tastes of the 2 types they had] and the steamers for $30. But of course the free transportation made the meal practically free. 2 cable car rides, Caltrain, BART.

The resto had a nice feel.
