Which steakhouse in London?

Question

I'm trying to pick a steakhouse for birthday dinner in London. Looking at Hawksmoor, Mash, Goodman and JW Steakhouse. They all have steak and bearnaise sauce so I'm sure I can't go wrong. Bonus points for extraordinary dessert! I'm thinking the first two look best. Any opinions?

I've only been to Hawksmoor ( Spitalfields branch) the steak was good as was the crab on toast starter. What I remember most though is the trifle. I'm not that much of a dessert person but the fact that I polished it off after rich crab and big steak and chips gives you an indication of how much I liked it. Extraordinary? No. Bloody lovely? Definitely.

Your birthday may have come and gone by now but for the benefit of future readers I would highly recommend Macellaio in South Kensington and The Quality Chop House in Clerkenwell. Of your list I have only ever been to Hawksmoor and I would choose one of these two over it every time.
