So we're having one of our favorite couples for dinner next week; the menu focus is steak au poivre. Just got four gorgeous Delmonicos and fresh pink/black/white peppercorns. Now my dilemma: hearty, crusty roasted potatoes (redskins whole or Yukon Gold wedges) OR creamy garlic mash?
The hearty spuds echo the spicy pepper crust, but maybe we need the contrast of some smooth mashers?
Additional sides of a butter lettuce salad with lemon vinaigrette and avocado, haricots verts with butter and lemon.
What are your thoughts? I'm torn..
