My wife, rising kindergartner and I are planning a trip to Philly around Memorial Day week or so. She and I have been to Philadelphia twice on our own, but both times we didn't really explore the dining or hotel options. First time was for a wedding so everything was taken care of then. The second time we stayed with family friends who hadn't started their own family yet.
I am somewhat familiar with the more touted places like Zahav, Daylight Donuts, Vetri (if it still exists), Anything Steven Starr and Jose Garces, but I don't think most of these will be cost effective nor suitable for a 4-5 year old (I could be wrong). I almost always try to go to Reading Market for DiNics and an Apple Dumpling from Amish Eats.
Hounds where do you recommend staying both location and actual hotels and what do you locals have to say about places that serve good meals at a reasonable price. We MAY try to get to a Phillie's game if they haven't left town when we get there and so any recs at the ballpark may be helpful.
Lastly, we plan to do plenty of touristy things for the sake of our kid which means Franklin Institute, Please touch museum, liberty bell and some gardens.. and although it isn't Philadelphia, we may try to get out to Sesame Place for a day trip.
Thank you for your help and recommendations.
