Status Kuo - Mar Vista

They officially opened last Friday 12/5, I was trying to avoid the opening crowds and stopped in tonight after work for some take out. Small space with only a half dozen tables. They were all full and had a few parties on the waiting list.

Got the rotisserie chicken, tri-tip sandwich and yuzu garlic bread. Both entrées came with a healthy sized portion of mixed green salad which also had persimmon, pomegranate and pepitas.

The entrées were well balanced in seasoning. We both loved how juicy the chicken was, both the dark and white meat. The skin was not super crispy but not flabby either. Not sure how much of that could be attributed to bringing it home. But it wasn't too salty, always a concern with roasted chicken.

The tip tip was medium rare, tender and the greens and the bread was a good match. For my personal tastes, I would have liked a little more carmelized onions and a bit more punch to the horseradish.

The yuzu garlic bread had the strong yuzu flavor but for my tastes the bread was just on the other side off too toasted. Wife thought it was fine though.

Overall, we liked it. Thought the quality and portions were good for the price. The three items came to $42 after tax. I want to go back and try the Taiwanese Sunday gravy pasta and rotisserie pork.
