When you make a pot of coffee in your automatic coffee maker, boil a kettle of water, or boil water for spaghetti, etc, do you start with cold water or draw it hot from your tap? I've always started hot, but I saw Michael Chiarello on one of his episodes telling people to start with cold, because, 'cold water is fresher. Hot water has been sitting in your water heater and is not as fresh'. I really don't think it makes any difference, and have never noticed any off taste starting with hot. Any thoughts?
