many chowhounders, most prominently jim leff, have commented on the dearth of good food to be had along the ct. shoreline. we should therefore take it as our duty to support the pleasant surprises that pop up. one of our local treasures that appears to be withering on the vine due to lack of support is star of siam, the excellent thai restaurant on rte. 1(right off exit 65 ramp on 95, then a right onto rte 1, a couple hundred yards down on the right). the food is authentic, not sweetened and toned down for the bland american palate. we had a feast for 5 tonight for $60 and we were the only party in the place. of course the parking lot of the execrable cuckoo's nest across the street was overflowing with cars. despite being open for about 5 months now there was a forlorn hand-lettered sign in the window of star of siam reading: "new owners", i guess trying to generate some buzz. i urge all of you in the area to give this restaurant a try before it's too late.
