The Stand vs Carney's

RUBulldog | Feb 13, 200511:57 PM

My G/F and I are visiting her friend in Encino. So we decide to snack on some hot dogs. With the Stand and Carney's less than 10 miles apart, we decide to compare and see who has the best hot dog on Ventura Blvd.

We go to Carney's fist. I order a Carney's Dog. My g/f and her friend split a NY Dog. The Carney Dog is ok. Nothing great. The chili is very good though. I would prefer a Pink's chili dog and I'm not a fan of Pink's at all.

We go to The Stand. I order a loaded stand dog with chili and onions. The hot dog was steamed so I can compare it to Carney's. I'm blown away by how good the Stand is. WOW the chili is excellent. The hot dog the perfect mix of quality meat and spices. I'm so impressed that I order another loaded dog but this time grilled. Another great hot dog. My g/f spilts a prairie dog (corn relish, cheddar, and red sauce on a grilled dog) and she just loves it. I would gladly play the regular price but on Dollar Monday's it's is a great deal. I may stop by tomorrow.

I'm full after three hot dogs, but I was very tempted to order a burger. The couple sitting in the next table ordered some burgers, that looked very good. Maybe next time.

I think the Stand is by far the better hot dog place on Ventura.
