I want to put in a plug for this grocery store on the corner of Dale & Minnehaha in St. Paul. I'm just back from a trip there where I bought jumbo shrimp for about half of what I'd pay at Byerly's, plus lots of other great ingredients (I came across a fab-sounding recipe this morning for Thai-style shrimp on lemongrass skewers).
I also spied a refrigerated case that had a pile of banh mi sandwiches from the A La Francaise bakery . . . grabbed one for my lunch and was very pleased with it. Quite tasty, and it set me back all of a buck-fifty.
I noticed that the store seems to be adding more and more Mexican foodstuffs to its selection of Asian items. Also noticed that the seafood dept. had live blue crabs for $3.49/lb.
It's not as shiny clean a store as United Noodle, but for those on this side of the river I'd say it's certainly worth a trip.
