finally got back out to sripraphai last night. it couldn't have been a nicer evening.
ordered the fried soft shell crab "appetizer" to start things off. i was the only one at the table who liked soft shell crabs, so i had this huge mound of delicious fried chunks (possibly cut in quarters) of soft shell crabs. must've been at least 2 or 3 of them on my plate. most expensive thing ordered at $11.50, but it was damn well worth it. came with a side of mango slaw. leftovers are sitting in my fridge crying out to be eaten... i ordred this "thai spicey", but my server was nervous, and cautioned me against it, even though i assured her it was no problem. it came out spicey and delicious, but i could've handled more heat, and i know they could've dished it out. next time i'll be more persistent.
next up we ordered the drunken noodles with hot peppers & basil with Pork. scrumptious. amazingly tastey. so good that we had to order another order of this for takeout to take home. can't wait to dig into those "leftovers" later.
for our main course we ordered red curry with chicken. very limey with a bunch kaffir lime leaves. this we ordered regular spicey. a delicious curry. the chicken was cut very thin and nice and tender, but not mushy.
our friends ordered the spicey thai beef salad, which was good, but i didn't eat enough to really comment. they also ordered the beef satay which was good. satay sauce was sweet & chunky/smooth..
usually would order a lot more dishes, and some crazier items, but we were with more conservative friends. impressive enough just to get them out to thai food, but they really enjoyed it. next time, though, we're gonna go with some friends who are more hardcore thai aficionados and we'll order some more adventurous dishes and definitely push for "thai spicey"!
