My boyfriend and I finally made it to Sripraphai, for lunch last Saturday. YUM! Definitely among the best thai food I've ever had. I had pork with curry and green beans, and he had fried thai catfish with spicy sauce. My pork was DELICIOUS and the green beans were fresh and crisp. His catfish was even better. Fried without being greasy, and the flesh was firmer and sweeter than american catfish. It was prepared with these beautiful little purple-streaked squash things, about the size of golf balls. I did some research and found out they're thai eggplants.
The question is, where can I find these? I have a huge fruit market near me in Rego park but have never seen these little beauties. I don't even like regular eggplant, but these are much more tender and less bitter. Anyone seen them in a market anywhere?
