Sri Siam Review

kipper | Mar 21, 200611:06 PM

Taking the advice from a post on the boards I went today to Sri Siam and ordered the Fish Cakes for an appetizer and a Crispy rice salad. I felt compelled to write a review to warn anyone else from making the same mistake.
The fish cakes are rubbery, with the consistency of a Nerf ball. I could barely finish half the order before my gag refelxes overwhelmed me. I thought oh well, surely the highly reccomended Crispy rice salad will make up for it. Boy was i wrong. The Thai sausage in the salad is definately not for the novice visiter. The rice was not good either.
The man in the kitchen kept watching me curiously to see if i was enjoying it. It made me a bit nervouse because i had to keep up the front that it was all wonderful and i was happy with what i ordered, fearful not to insult them.
I finished about a third of both plates determined not to have wasted my money. but after that i could not force myself to suffer any longer and asked for a to-go box.
I have to say, it was the most horrificly bad food i have ever been served. I cant imagine why anyone would not only eat this food , btu tout it as superb on this message board.
Perhaps my tastebuds are not as distinguished as other chowhounders, but this reccomendation shoudl come with a discalimer.
Can anyone else respond to this and explain to me just how they can rate those dishes as good?
I have also ordered Fried rice there before, adn it came with fresh raw tomatoes on top before. what?!?! im never going back
