Finally made it to Floating Rock Cambodian Restaurant in Revere on Sunday for a great late lunch. My friends and I ordered the house special soup and the squid salad with mint. The house special soup had a flavorful broth and was filled with rice noodles, squid, shrimp, pork and liver. We weren't fans of the liver, but the rest was great, nothing super special though.
The squid salad was another story. If you like squid, this place is a MUST. An amazing salad, tender pieces of squid with peppers (both hot chili and sweet, dangerously hard to tell the difference), lime, mint, peanuts, basil and cilantro in a sweet/sour/spicy dressing. One of the best squid dishes I have ever had.
I also had a homemade limeade. I didn't like it cause it was both sweet and salty. This was either a) an accident or b) on purpose, and I just didn't like it. I think it was on purpose because it reminded me of other sweet/salty drinks I have had (like the salted plum bubble teas) which I also dislike. I was too afraid to ask if it was supposed to be salty though, I should have been more brave.
After lunch we went across the street to the Cambodian grocery store and bought some sticky rice with banana and ate our dessert on the beach. I forget the name of this market, but it is very large and has a nice selection of fresh and packaged items.
