I thought that I would be smart . I ordered the homeburger, not the regular. Meat tasted a bit funny , as if it had been subject to freezer burn, which it hadn't, but at least it was palatable, sort of. Johnny's on Victoria Pk, the burger I pitched after 2 bites. The problem here was excessive salt. I was up all night drinking water.
I noticed the teh guy who I think is the owner preparing a souvlaki on a bun for himself.
He salted the lettuce on the bun, I thought that he would never stop with the salt shaker. He made my wife's father, English working class, seem like a salt abstainer.
My wonder is this. How do these places stay in business? They should have closed inside 6 months. Yet Square Boy and Johnny's have been going since the mind of man runneth not. that is to say over 25 years. And they are busy. Square Boy had 4 people working - and a regular stream of customers-at 11pm on a bitterly cold night.
