I went to @SQC for brunch this weekend and had the strangest experience. There were two of us, and we were seated right away on a Sunday around noon, so we were pretty happy because many larger groups were lingering around and the place was packed.
For drinks, we decided to order a spicy bloody mary and the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. For entrees, the asparagus eggs benedict w/ smoked salmon and the regular eggs benedict. The waiter took forever in coming to take our order, and when he arrived at our table he didn't even say hello--he just stood there. A very odd duck.
Anyway, the waiter took our orders and, I kid you not, our food came in 30 SECONDS. This was quicker than Taco Bell. I am not stretching the truth by any means - 30 seconds. The food arrived before our drinks. The food was barely warm. We asked the waiter to come back, and he looked very confused, and said he hadn't even gotten our drinks yet...so he took the food away with no explanation. After a little while, our order (new servings) arrived, and the food was fine.
BUT what a horrible experience -- there were no explanations provided. I can understand that in a busy place you can have some of the food ready in advance (the asparagus, smoked salmon) and sitting on a steam table or heat lamp, but entire entrees? Even if you serve a lot of the same food, the least they could have done was pretend that they cooked it and waited a few minutes. I can't tell if they had a ton of plated food ready and under heat lamps, or if they just happen to have had a few extra orders ready when we ordered....
Very odd, I doubt I'll go back for some time.
