Was in Springfield for an overnight trip to the dog show. Had dinner Friday eve at the Student Prince. I love the atmosphere and history of this place and the reasonable prices. My wife had the saurbraten (sp) which was flavorful but did not like the cut of meat used. Red cabbage was very good. I had the veal sausage which I thought was a little bland and sourkrout which was very good. Shared potato pancakes which were small and crispy.

Next day stopped at the White Hut. Thought it was more an experience than anything else. Grilled dog served in a buttery grilled roll and a flat cheeseburger patty with grilled onions. The cheese melted and blended nicely with the grilled onions but a better more flavorful cheese (they used American) would have added to the taste.
