Spring 2017 Baking/Dessert Cookbook of the Month VOTING

After a lively nomination round with lots of potential comers, the two titles with the most nominations move on to a vote, with the winner our selection for the March–May 2017 quarter.

Our two titles are very different in scope, but both come from very well respected cookbook authors and have become instant classics.

CLASSIC HOME DESSERTS: A TREASURY OF HEIRLOOM AND CONTEMPORARY RECIPES, by Richard Sax, first published in 1994 and reissued in 2010, this book of 300-plus recipes covers an international collection of sweets both baked and unbaked, with informative headnotes, variations, sidebars and quotes from historical sources and literature, and plenty of technical guidance, as well.

DORIE'S COOKIES, by Dorie Greenspan, released last fall, has 200-plus recipes for cookies, cookies, and more cookies (plus accompaniments), including a chapter of savory "cocktail cookies", all on glossy pages with a close-up photo of every recipe. Here you'll find best-of-class and new twists on classics, as well as brand new cookies, all accompanied by Greenspan's clear instructions.
