Live in SF. Went for brunch yesterday. Liked the place when I walked in, and I wanted to like it. Met some friends who took the train in from upstate. I had the burger. Meet tasted like beef...good beef. Well-seasoned, tasty. On a very good soft bun. Wife had frittata...she thought was OK, a bit heavy on garlic, but it was a listed ingredient, so no prob. Friends had the slow-ccoked beans with 2 poached eggs and French toast. Beans/Eggs he seemed to enjoy mucho, but a very small portion. French Toast I tasted and thought was nothing special. Bevs ordered were 1 mimosa, 2 pomegranate mimosas ($12), 2 beers, 1 pelli. Also side of home fries for table. Small case of sticker shock when bill came. $125. Before tip. $150 with. Just seemed expensive for 5 drinks, 1 bottle of water, four dishes and a side of pots. If I had to guess prices based on quantity/deliciousness (and vast experience dining in other cities), I would guess about 8-10 for each food item, plus $5 per beer and water, and $8 for mimosas, $5 for home fries. That bill would come to about $85 instead of $125. I knew NY was expensive, but I thought SF was too. We were treating, but friends (just moved from SF) whipped out what they thought would be half: $40.
