Had lunch at Spoon Thai today and a few minutes after I ordered both Chai and Wana came over to the table with a sliced sausage they just added, or were thinking of adding, to Spoon's menu, and asked me if I would like give it a try.
Slightly spicy, with hints of Thai curry paste and the merest suggestion of coconut, at least the richness was there. The sausage was coarse ground pork with visible herbs and wisps of lemon grass in evidence.
The name of the Thai sausage, which they said was from the North (Northern was their exact words) was
The Sai UUA was excellent, and a nice change of pace from their Isaan sausage.
Spoon Thai, as is Thai Aree, are Chicago treasures, go early, go often.
