Met a friend today for lunch at Spitfire Grill (formerly Olio), and it was fantastic! Affordable. Quality. Smelled good... I don't know this for a fact, but they *must* have worked with someone from Blue Ribbon BBQ, because there were so many similarities. Homemade pickles (with cloves and allspice. yum!) Jugs of BBQ sauce in sweet, hot or mustard that you push the pump to dispense in small cups. Chalk blackboard for the menu. Surprisingly nice beer selection. Row of seats bar-like around the perimeter --- sure reminds me of Blue Ribbon.
That's okay with me though! The pulled pork sandwich was moist and full of flavor. Sauces were great. Good slaw. Excellent collard greens. Smashed sweet potatoes were fluffy and wonderful...and the guy behind the counter was fun to talk too.
I never did make it to Olio when it was there, but considering this is the same owner, he probably made a good call changing gears. People love well done BBQ, and I have to say, I'm impressed.
