Don't go to Spiazzino

Tara Marchand | Feb 8, 200410:35 AM

It's on Valencia near 21st in the Mission. I wanted to give it a chance, even though my girlfriend had some concerns -- so much for my open mind! Decor is bland but adequate, service is friendly enough, but food is just plain *awful*. One of the worst meals I've had in quite a while.

The lettuce in the mayonnaise-y Caesar salad was strangely "hard," and there was little flavor of anchovy or garlic. My penne was salmon sauce was too salty, too fishy, and just plain yuck. The pasta itself was cooked just fine, but the sauce was terrible, as was the sauce for my girlfriend's fettucine with shrimp. It too was fishy, and the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. The complimentary bread looked like it might've been okay, but unfortunately, we weren't given any.

I kind of hate to speak so badly about a restaurant, especially when the people were nice, but the food was so terrrible that I have to say...Stay away, and don't blow $50 like we did.
