Sphinx egyptian restaurant & nightclub, Niles

this a kind of odd spot, outside there are pictures of pharoahs and such, a bif sign advertising lunch specials. When you get in it's apparent that you're eating in a club on off hours. The day we were there there was atable of acne faced kids giggling over a waterpipe and the owner chatting up a woman at the bar

But the lunch special (4.99) was a pretty good deal - a combination plate of rice (A little dried out), hummus, a couple of cubes of lamb kabob, a nice shish kabob, and nicely broiled chicken pieces, served with frsh hot sauce and a pickle plate with olives, garbanzo beans, turnip and a couple little hot peppers. The combio includes desert (kunafe, baklava or ice cream) and a soft drink.

For those wanting other places in the area, it's righ next door to a polish deli advertising handmade sausages and very close to Amy Joy's "best in Town" donuts

Wednesdays are "Arab-Asian" nights at the club, and on Saturdays the place seems to go by another name (Eclipse nightlub) and have Carribean music, fairly big name acts which I have seen advertised in the jamaican paper.
