It's been a while since I've eaten here, but this Afghan mainstay still make some really good kababs. The natural charcoal they use imparts a nice smokey flavor to the meat. While the kababs may be enough reason for me to revisit Speengar, what caught my interest is that the expanded menu here looks a lot more Persian than Afghan these days. The presence of fesenjon, koobideh, and other Persian staple dishes now dot the menu. I've sought out Persian food in NYC, but I haven't had anything remarkable. Unfortunately, I didn't sample much of the Persian offerings from Speengar, but I'm sure to explore it further since it's right under my nose. Has anyone been here to check it out? Curious for some feedback.
