I'll be in Chicago Mar 16-18, here are a few questions:
Staying at Park Hyatt, any great coffee and/or pastry nearby? (intelligentsia outpost?) What about Baker Miller, can you just get a pastry there or is it more full breakfast-y? the idea of wild yeasted sourdough cinnamon rolls has me intrigued.
I have Ruxbin reservations on Thurs. Is this a good use of a Chicago dinner? Where can I grab a half bottle on the way in? Wine store nearby, or one near my hotel? It's totally BYO, right?
What about Wed night? I was thinking about La Sirena Clandestina, but maybe I should do something more opposite from Ruxbin? French? Italian? We've never been to Piccolo Sogno, should we go? Plus would be inside 2 miles from hotel (free house car)
I will probably just go to Portillo's so the husband can have Italian beef for Thurs lunch. Or should we go to Manny's? I recall a trip there YEARS ago that we loved, can't even remember the neighborhood.
Friday lunch I was debating Fat Rice. Am I correct that they now have both lunch and reservations? We will be headed north to Wisconsin Friday afternoon, so Logan square seems like a good place to do a late lunch...is that correct geographically? Is it worth going to FAt Rice at lunch? The menu appeared not to offer the signature dish at lunch.
Apparently I randomly picked St. Patricks Day to be in Chicago. Anything I need to know to be a savvy tourist on Thursday and not get stuck in massive crowds?
