Special Holiday Sweets in Boston?

opinionatedchef | Nov 19, 201401:53 PM

I just found a terrific product at WF Medford. I have never been much of a panettone fan before, but this one is an imported italian Glazed Panettone with Orange and Chocolate (no raisins). Brioche-like,light, moist, loaded with quality candied orange and dark chocolate pieces, with a cocoa/egg white cracked meringue topping. I'm in heaven! It's in a brown paper and twine wrapped
~14" cake box.

Just as a reminder, on the complete other side of the weight/density spectrum , but with a similar flavor profile is the Panforte made by Dave's Fresh Pasta. Flat discs,~7" diameter, of pressed dried fruit and nuts- figs, cranberries, orange, lemon, almonds etc., coated in cocoa powder. (imo it easily competes with the italian imported panfortes i have tried at Formaggio and WF in the past!)

Any finds for you?
