Special Dinner: Where would you go? Asiate OR Payard Patissirie (tasting menu)

Hi All,

I'm going out for a special dinner with the lady and we have selected these two potentials. Any thoughts on either place? Please comment on food and any other issues. The one concern that I have repeatedly read, is that the service at Payard can be lacking.

for some background: our favorite places for a expensive meal are: Unions Square cafe, Grammercy, Cub room (had a very special 5 course tasting meal - awesome), and Biltmore room.

feel free to email me directly with detailed info.

thanks,

JAB

ps -had the Tuscan Lamb at USC last friday (friday/weekly special) - unbelievably delicious, the porcine Gnocci left us weak in the knees.
Ate at the bar and the bartender gave us a sample of 4 different red wines to try. Where else can you get service and food like this??????
