Special Dinner for Two

My husband and I recently eloped, and at the urging of Chowhounds celebrated our City Hall nuptials at EMP—which was, in a word, amazing.

We have been offered a dinner at any restaurant we want in Manhattan as a gift by a family friend, and now we have to choose a second experience. We'd like to go somewhere we haven't been. A few we've thought of:

Daniel (though we've heard it can be insufferably stuffy, and we don't like that)
Jean Georges
The Modern (have dined at the bar, but not at the restaurant with carte blanche)

We do not want to do a three-hour+ tasting menu, a la Per Se, as my husband gets fidgety and too much of even a very good thing is still too much. (EMP was amazing, but the three course tasting menu with wine left us feeling glutted and uncomfortable. Very rich, lots of variety, total sensory overload.)

Delicious cocktails are a plus, as is a good wine list with staff who know how to pair wines.
