Spatchcocked Capon - grilled or roasted

Any opinions? It is a 13 lb capon and my friend intends to spatchcock it and grill or roast. Both oven and grill are available. He was leaning towards roasted bc it would give him a base for his gravy, but wondered if the grilling gave better flavor. Thanks.
