Spanish, NOT Tapas!

Janie | Nov 20, 2004 07:29 PM

Would really like to have some shrimp with garlic sauce, and some shrimp with green sauce, and some good sangria (noone can touch mine--so I'll settle for at least full of fruit and strong :)...
What is the state of spanish restaurants in the city. Last time I was at Sevilla, it felt so tired, and the portions had gotten smaller......when I looked on menu pages under Spanish, most of the places talked about on this board are tapas, but rarely do I ever hear any talk about paella, or shrimp dishes I mentioned. Been to El Faro, and their sangria was lousy, and shrimp was okay--not the cleanest place I've been to either...although Sevilla isn't so spruced up either...Have heard mixed things about Solera, and asked about Mesa De Espana on 28th and never heard a reply. Francisco's Centro on 23rd was lousy, and I wouldn't return--Been to El Cid, sorry but I guess I'm in the minority for that place, thought everything was mediocre, and overpriced, and really lousy sangria. And, so what is left? Do I cross the bridge for NJ? I will go anywhere in Manhattan, Queens, or LI...please help me!!!!
