Recently returned from a quick trip to Spain.

limbo, in the Barri Gotic a block towards the water from Carrer Angel and in the 30's address-wise was quite enjoyable. Amuse bouche of chilled carrot cream with mint. Brilliant salad of arugula, pickled strawberries and spring onions with seared foie gras. Beautiful combination. Cod with baby banana, rose tempura, green garlic sauce was sent back due to severe oversalting. Enjoyed thinly sliced manchego with honey and crema catalana foam with lemon gelee for dessert, along with a delicious lychee-esque moscatel. Service was good, took the cod off the bill. And the hostess was the fastest-walking hostess I've ever seen.

Dined another night at La Cupula in Vila-sacra near Figueres. Amuse were a shot of cheese foam on berry coulis, a cube of seared foie gras on caramelized apple puree, and a mussel with lemon gelee. I started with a salad of warm cabbage, morel, and apple with a seriously HUGE slice of seared foie gras. The duck wrapped around foie gras and apple with foie gras sauce and turned vegetables and figs was more refined. Both were delicious. Warm chocolate cake with coconut sorbet and peppermint coulis for dessert, hazelnut foam and cookie amuse to end it.

El Bulli was precisely as it should have been.

Back in Barcelona, Cinq Sentis stunned. In the Eixample, west of the University. Go, have the omakase. Perfect amuse shot of maple syrup, cream, and cava sabayon with crunchy maldon sea salt. Salmon tartare with tobiko and honey mustard ice cream. Seared ahi with shiitake and smoked bonito broth. I think there may have been white asparagus, and if there were, they were some of the best. Sort of a blur after that, still strung out on El Bulli. There may have been mackerel. Definitely there were lamb chops, porcini-dusted and delicious. Also vanilla pana cotta with rose-pepper gelee and strawberry sorbet, and a chocolate hazelnut mousse torte in Bailey's anglaise with coffee sorbet.

And tonight, pizza delivery. Hah!
