we tried to go to a little bun shop that someone here had recommended but we were too late and had 2 hungry kids with us and there were lines at a few places. anyway, we landed for a quick meal at this place that said it was having it's 'grand opening' (tho i suspect it meant that it opened within the last few months. more interesting is that they have hand-pulled noodles in soup. we ordered the hand-pulled noodles with dumplings in soup and also a lamb vermicelli with soup. those hand-pulled noodles stole the show. i was so happily surprised that the broth was very good on both soups with some greens. the dumplings had a good pork and chive balance in them. but ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh those noodles!
here's an excerpt from their menu:
Lanzhou Hand-pulled noodels, also known as Beef Noodles, originiated from the city of Lanzhou, the souce of the Huanghe River, western plateau of China. " it's a long explanation but, if you should find yourself on 8th avenue and 52nd st. and craving some noodles and soup, this would be a good choice.
here's the info from the menu:
