We revisited Sovalo this week (you can read my report titled Sovalo, dated Feb 4) and again had a delightful experience.

We all enjoyed everything we ordered, the place is lovely and the service is friendly and competent. They have a bar, but you are welcome to BYOB. (They seem to really mean it; glasses, pouring, etc. are gracious.)

On our way out, we chatted with Kellie, the very pretty manager. She and Joe, her husband, spent 8 years working at Tra Vigne in the Napa Valley - he was the chef, she the manager. They have relocated here because of Joe's family, and fell in love with the new place. It's at 2nd and Fairmount, the former Pigalle.

The menu is small and interesting, and there are frequent changes. We asked Kellie - begged her - not to take the ravioli off the menu. Those ravioli - silky, delicate, with a wonderful pear, fontina cheese and onion filling - are the kind you remember and crave.

So - when you can't get into Marigold Kitchen or Django and want to relax, enjoy some very good food, hear music in the background but be able to talk, and even have street parking - go while you can get in. And don't tell too many people!

PS - Luckily, we made our most recent reservation at Marigold Kitchen before LeBan's review came out. It was wonderful, as always.
