Do any of you take home a souvenier from restaurants? Like that very pretty salt shaker? Or that strudy steak knife? Or that very petite, but expensive, vase?

I ask because this past week I was entertaining clients and during one of our meals, said client decided to take with her one of the trays the restaurant used to hold packets of sugar, NutraSweet, etc. Just up and put it in her purse!

This episode did jog my memory about reading an article a while back (maybe in the NYT or WSJ) about how restauranteurs were peeved at customers taking paintings from restroom walls and what not.

Never occurred to me that the price of a meal could actually include non-comestible items...

Any thoughts about this?
