Southwest Ireland Trip Report

We started in Kinsale where we had some wonderful seafood chowder at Fishy Fishy (the location in the center of town). It is a very casual place best suited for lunch. Dinner at Max's Wine Bar was terrific.

The next four nights we were in Killarney. The one place I would surely go back to is Chapter 40. Everything about it was outstanding. We also had good meals at Treyvaud's and Lord Kenmore. Bricin was OK, but I felt compelled to try boxty and was disappointed.

If you find yourself near Kilrush at mealtime, the Crotty's pub in the town centre has very good food.

We ate two nights in Doonbeg.. I doubt they have too many visitors except for those staying at the Doonbeg Lodge. It is a very upscale resort in a tiny village. There are two restaurants on the property and I only ate at the more casual of the two. The food was good, but overpriced. The last night we decided to try a pub in the village named Tubridy's. The food was just as good as the resort food at a fraction of the cost.
