Southern Spice Bistro update - Andhra food in Mountain View

mdg | Dec 18, 2005 08:40 PM

Southern Spice Bistro continues to do well in their Andhra selections. Last night we tried their versions of Apollo Fish, Kodi Pulusu (chicken curry), and lamb biryani. All were very tasty indeed. I may prefer the versions of Apollo Fish and lamb biryani at Marigold, but the spicing and preparation on both these dishes is quite different at the two restaurants, so it's hardly an exact comparison. Unlike my first visit, there seemed to be no stinting on the heat this time around.

Combine this with the fine rasam and Meka Mamsam Vepudu (goat fry) from my first visit and things are very promising indeed. It sure is nice to have a good selection of bone-in meat dishes to choose from! We'll have to start exploring some other parts of the menu now, including the vegetarian selections.

Southern Spice is in the old Swagat location at 2700 W. El Camino Real in Mountain View. It's just a few blocks west of San Antonio, across the street from Rambus, and adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express.
