Sour Rye Soup - Zakwas

Hi, we're making Zurek soup with sour rye from scratch. The rye flour and water mixture has been sitting covered for a couple of days already. The mixture only gets added at the end so any bacteria would not be cooked away.

My question is the following, is this mixture safe to eat while pregnant? We've never made this before so I just want to be sure it will safe for my pregnant wife.
