I just bought the last two quarts of sour cherries at my local farmer's market. I won't be able to use them for a while and I'd like to freeze them. Should I wash them first? Pit them? What are the best storage containers for these delicate beauties? What will they be like when they defrost? Or should I even defrost them before, let's say, I bake a cherry pie? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
