soups in oc

finding really good soup is tough. i would gladly suffer a soup nazi to have a selection of good soups daily.

some of my favorite places for soup are

1. Zov's Bistro in Tustin: all of the soups are good. I really like the squash soup. (On a side note they make the "best" muhamara. does anyone know where i can find muhamara? ... they used to serve it at Tosh's on Beach Blvd. but they closed)

2. Alta Coffee House in Newport Beach 31st street. Go down Newport Blvd. It's in that area near lido by the cannery. This is one of my favorite little quiet places. No one goes here. They make a great soup called Zuni Stew with thick tomato broth, corn, green beans, kidney beans, swirls of cheese, zuchini it rocks. I add a sandwich on their fresh bread and I'm set. My wife likes to add their chocolate cake and I encourage her always. -try standing between chocolate and a woman ;) This place is on a one way street near nothing else. If you want a quiet meal go there. Just a warning they have musicians later at night on most fridays and saturdays.

3. Taco Mesa's soups have actually dropped recently. Who else remembers when their roasted tomato soup was more roasted tomato and less cream? But there salmon soup on weds. still rocks. Light broth, tons of veggies and chunks of salmon. YES SIR!

Any other favorites out there for soup in OC.
