Sorrento-good dining experience

We tried them out on the weekend and overall a very good experience: Loved the smoked scamorza, eggplant and tomato sauce risotto---the smoked cheese gave it a lovely flavour; also really enjoyed Pennoni vongole e carciofi (wonderful flavour in the garlic oil and red pepper sauce and the artichokes were very tender and the pasta just how I like it in being el dente; the only little flaw was a little grit from the clams); also loved the side of rapini--better than even the wonderful stuff that 7 Numbers used to produce. It was melt in your mouth tender but not overdone and very flavourful without too much bitter. I wasn't quite as impressed with the side salads--mixed greens and arugula cherry tomatoes--which came undressed--just a bit weird to me and also portion size was a bit small. But then the chocolate almond cake was wonderful (a slight hint of orange and a nice bit of chewiness next to a very good chocolate flavour) and the creme brulee was good. Add while I don't place a ton of importance on restaurant interiors, it's very nicely done.

Definitely a nice alternative to Trio----now two of my top fave Italian places are in the same area!
