This is a gem that is very likely to be overlooked since it is not downtown and is next to a beauty salon and adjacent to a motel on the more residential side of Tunnel Rd.
Sorrento's is very reminiscent of a small family restaurant in Italy. Relaxed and friendly service and emphasis on the quality of the food and not on a stellar wine list(they only have a couple of reds and whites by the bottle). Three of us had pasta dishes which were fresh and tasty and my husband had the prime rib topped with shrimp. They serve you a large complimentary antipasti plate as well as salads so our bill for the 2of us (2 entrees, 3 glass of wine, 1 dessert and 1 after dinner drink) was $77 which I thought was very reasonable.
My only complaint would be that they need better bread, especially since they have this great herbed butter.
It reminded all of us of La Caterina before it moved to Il Paradiso and the quality changed for the worse. Would love to see this place downtown with outside seating but the owner is elderly and seems to have a lot of repeat local business that might not want to venture into downtown.
