Waited in line for a good half hour... it smelled so good outside!
Once you get inside, its a different story. I was coughing from all the smoke, and by the time we left, BOTH our eyes were red and irritated. In fact, I had to squeeze in on the other side of the table because the smoke seemed to be blowing directly into my eyes. But even on the other side, my eyes were still getting irritated.
The meats were OK: we had ordered the Spencer Steak, the pork, spicy tofu soup, and two diet cokes. That totaled to be about $50-$51 without tip.
My SO was really disappointed by the side dishes. However, I was disappointed that the meats did not taste that much better cooked on charcoal.
Someone had posted earlier that Tahoe Galbi's charcoal was so far down in the grill pit that it didn't really make a difference. With that said, I think I will just stick to our standard for Korean BBQ from now on: Chosun Galbi...
Unless anyone has any better suggestions! Yes, we've tried Chung Kiwa already... Chosun still wins. The only thing I wish Chosun had was some kind of spicy tofu soup!!!
Why we like Chosun Galbi: the panchans are excellent and the variety of them is great. the meat is of high quality. the place is big so turnover/wait time isn't too painful. the price really isn't that bad for the quality. their marinades for the meat are excellent and it always tastes sooo goood!
