Sonoma: farmers mkt and Nonna's Eastside Market

Cynthia | Jul 13, 200511:30 AM

Sonoma's Farmers' Market— in the town square on Tuesday nights from 5:30 pm - and for an added attraction, there's jazz on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Last night it was Cuban jazz with Orquesta la Moderna Tradicion. On August 9, it's the Brubeck Brothers...
at the Farmers Market: the cut flowers are abundant! We found peaches, pluots, figs, tomatoes, beets, basil and tomotillos at The Patch and at Oakhill Farms. Della Fattoria has a stand for their wonderful breads from Petaluma...
a stop at Nonna's Eastside Market was a find for great wine values; more Spanish wines than I've located elsewhere in the area! Interesting Italian finds, too. Wines from under $10 to $30.
I didn't have my icechest so I could not buy the Meyenberg Goat Milk Butter from Turlock - next time I'll be prepared - it was just too, too hot yesterday to hold the butter for the long hot summer night. The Deli at Nonna's is making good sandwiches, and at the olive bar, the Australian olives were spicy with red pepper flakes... and the Spanish Mahon cheese was tasty with the wines. 1190 East Napa Street —opened last September - but it's off the beaten track and we had not ventured that far from the Square...until now.
