Sonoma County Produce Stands

Melanie Wong | Aug 25, 200105:37 PM

We’re proud of our farmers markets. But when I can’t find what I need there or have a need on another day of the week, I’ll turn to two favorite places in the County for beautiful fruits and vegetables.

Andy’s Produce Market (1691 Gravenstein Hwy., Sebastopol, 707-823-661) offers a full range of local produce and the best from growers outside the region too. Many items are organic and the prices here are better than Fiesta or Whole Foods in town.

Anstead’s (102 Healdsburg Ave., Healdsburg, 707-431-0530, M-Sat. 9-7) specializes in local organic produce. I bought a couple beautiful melons today when I missed out on the selection at the farmers market. There’s also an extensive selection of natural food and a small deli that’s famous for its chunky style guacamole, available on Friday and Saturday only.
